The Amazing Colbert

From the category “Things I never thought I’d read in one sentence, even on the Internet”: Stephen Colbert Spider-man variant cover.

Iron Man Home Premium, Iron Man Extreme, …

A mere eight store-exclusive editions of Iron Man on DVD. This beats Transformers with it’s mere three editions. In both cases, I suckered myself into buying the Target edition.
Sure, there’s something sad about being a sucker for custom shaped novelty DVD cases. But hey, I’m the guy with the Iron Man mask shaped DVD case, [...]

The late 80s want DJ Tanner’s name back.

DJ Grayson, future Boy Wonder! I’ll take ‘bad ideas’ for $500, Bob.

Minx goes the way of WaMu, with some good analysis

Little Nemo in Slumberland titles

Examples of Winsor McCay’s amazing Little Nemo in Slumberland titles, along with an interesting conversation on why McCay, as a master draftsman, used such sloppy lettering for his main character’s speech bubbles.

Marvel Migraine

A quick thought: While an amazing story, calling Jonathan Lethem’s Omega The Unknown complex would be quite an understatement. Ow. My brain.

Open mouth, insert green arrow.

DC Editorial decides to run with the worst idea since the Jump To Conclusions mat: DC Universe: Descisions #1 (of 4). While accurately portraying Green Arrow as the tree-hugging commie-book pinko he is, Lois Lane is portrayed as a staunch old-skool Republican (thanks to her army brat heritage) and Wonder Woman questions a candidate because [...]

Microsoft’s failing Seinfeld campaign in a nutshell.

Microsoft’s failing Seinfeld campaign in a nutshell.

What’s your favorite programmer cartoon?

StackOverflow.com is quickly turning into something very awesome. Keep an eye on it.
Ofcourse, everybody knows the clear winner is this one.

There’s more to David Lloyd than V for Vendetta.

While I actually considered the V for Vendetta movie to be more consistent than the graphic novel — I know, blasphemy, off with his head, etc, etc, — I did enjoy David Lloyd’s art in the original story thoroughly. I will surely pick up this book Kickback. (Which was printed in English in 2006 — [...]

The Umbrella Academy: pros and cons.

Pros: Gabriel Ba. Cons: My Chemical Romance’s Gerard Way.Are you still here? Wow. So, yes, My Chemical Romance. That connection was enough reason for me to avoid the single issues of this series, under the assumption it was tainted by the stink of One Of The Black Parade. The reason I tried it in the [...]

She’s dead. Come back next week.

It’s Genetic — Kyle Baker’s Marvel Age one-frame gag strip. The Jean Grey one has me in stitches. I can’t help it.

Bat. shit. crazy

I’m going to be irregularly contributing to the Geekocracy blog, the follow up to the video podcast by Mason and Rudy. Which will also become an audio podcast, sort of. Confused yet? I sure am.

It’s kind of hard to miss out on two pretty apparent facts:

DC is getting more press than they wanted on the [...]

This, however, is just plain silly.

I’m not sure if I’d trust Avatar with my merchandising ideas, Warren.

Ellistravaganza

I didn’t really care for Warren Ellis’ Doktor Sleepless at first, but it’s definitely grown on me. Now coming to TPB and HC. Oh, and he’s writing a FAQ. And there’s a HC coming of Black Summer, which was great. Oh, and his online book Freakangels is coming to print.
Man, I wouldn’t mind getting his [...]

And this is why you don’t cover a true black with CMYK black.

Oh my. Frank Miller’s batshit crazy. No pun intended; just adding to the pile of evidence.

For 250K a year, I wouldn’t mind a little ache.

An article, nay, snippet about Achewood and it’s creator’s business model. Clearly, I need to learn how to draw. And how to get funny. After that? World hunger. Clearly, I’ll be here all week.

“Hey Chris, am I?” “You’re dead!” Alright, cool.”

“I asked Chris [Nolan] that question and he goes, “You’re dead” before I could even get the question out of my mouth. “Hey Chris, am I?” “You’re dead!” Alright, cool.”
Aaron Eckhart (Harvey Dent / Two-Face in The Dark Knight)

Get your indie on

Top Shelf’s $3 sale. I picked up a bunch of their books last year. I have to say, the Blankets soundtrack was the biggest surprise of the bunch (you have to admit, it sounds…unlikely). Pretty darn good indie album.

When worlds collide.

Hey, I did say I wanted to bring all my interests (Internet technology and comics in this case) together. Check out the view Google Chrome comic by Scott McCloud (of Understanding Comics and ZOT! fame).
Addendum: One of these days, we’ll have a headline about comics that doesn’t have to have KAPOW or WHAMMO in the [...]
